The Wildcats with Kill the Hippies and Arcade Inferno

The ECC

06-20-05

This show was at the ECC in Kent, OH. If you haven't been there before (this was my first time) this is a very nice venue for small shows. About Pat's in the Flats size, but with that semi-classy vibe The Lime Spider has.

Anyway, Kill the Hippies went on first, surprisingly. This was my first time seeing them with their new drummer (their ninth). Just as good as they ever were with drummer number 8, which in case you didn't know is really fucking good. They played just a little over 30 minutes, with the highlight being the always crowd pleasing "Dildo".

Arcade Inferno were two guys named Dave from Gainesville, FL. Apparently there was a full band before they left, but after their tour was booked the other members decided it was too much effort and stayed home. Undaunted, these guys set out with a couple of acoustic guitars and played the dates anyway. They sounded pretty good. Nice guys, too.

Last but certainly not least was The Wildcats. They played a set of funky garagey late sixties/early seventies style rock with punk attitude. I thought the highlight of their set was a nearly unrecognizable version of "I Put a Spell on You". The lead singer spent as much time rolling around on the floor as he did on the stage. (Bob Ignizio)
